Review: iFrogz Luxe Lean Case of iPhone 4

Yesterday, we reviewed a very slim/low profile case for the iPhone 4 and today we are featuring, yet, another super slim profile case for your beloved iPhone 4.  ifrogz's new Luxe Lean case features a thin polycarbonate case that is covered with a metallic rubberized finish and padded with extra felt on the back to gently hold your iPhone in place.

The Luxe Lean (MSRP $24.99) provides ample protection on the back and two of the sides.  The cutouts for the camera and volume buttons are precise and what I like about it the most is how it barely adds any thickness to the iPhone 4. iFrogz added some cutouts to the sides but the rubberized finish offers a good grip to pickup this case from a flat table top.  This case comes in 9 colors so you are pretty much covered (no pun intended!)

Review: ifrogz Luxe Original Case for iPhone 3G

If there one thing in common amongst iPhone owners, that is probably their obsessive needs to protect their beloved iPhones. And one of the most popular case design you'll see at your local coffee house is probably the ifrogz Luxe original series cases (MSRP $29). I have finally got my hands around one of these and started to carry it with me on my 16GB iPhone 3G for the past few days.

From the first glance, this iPhone case design is pretty good looking. The color contrast between the top and bottom is vivid (kinda like anodized aluminum) which will get proper attention. Whats interesting is the finish (although appears metallic) it actually feels like it has a thin layer of rubberized coating which provides the needed traction to stay put in your pocket. (Cases with pure plastic finish tend to slide out of dress pants pocket in a long commute). This hardshell case is well built and the large and the cut outs for your usual access is precise allowing you to change volume, plug in headphones or data cable with ease.

Some interesting things that sets the ifrogz Luxe case apart from others are: 1). An interlocking mechanism that holds the two halves together tightly, 2). The inside of the case is lined with felt-like material which protects your iPhone from scratches due to extended installing and removeal of the case and 3). it has an extremely thin bezel around the front which keeps your iPhone slim.

The ifrogz Luxe I have is finished with a Royal Blue color which looks really good in my opinion. You can choose from eight different colors to match your favorite choice.

Review: ifrogz Plugz Headphones w/ Mic

Good value stereo headphone w/ mic! Thats how I'd sum up ifrogz's Plugz, $19 pair of headphones,. For the amount of money you'd shell out for this headset, you are getting quite a bit in return. An in-ear design stereo headphone that includes a built-in mic so you can use your iPhone or BlackBerry smartphones without having to carry a spare headphone just for communication.

Sound quality is precise and crisp; I'd personally prefer to have a little bit more bass support so I'd recommend the ifrogz Timbre which supports a wider/lower frequency (20Hz to 20KHz). ifrogz has done a great job producing an entry level stereo headphones with built-in mic for a very reasonable price.

Review: ifrogz Timbre Headphones w/ Mic

(Update: I stand corrected. This remote has built in control in the mic module to let you "play/pause" or "receive/end" calls. The button is not really defined but definitely is there. This makes the headphones an extremely good value.)

I mentioned in the past that there has been a shortage of affordable, decent sounding stereo headphones with integrated microphone, folks at ifrogz has answered my call with a series of affordable and high quality headphones with high definition microphone. In this post, I'll cover the Timbre (MSRP $49), a set of noise isolating ear buds for your iPhone or BlackBerry.

Quality: The Timbre headphones is aptly named after its usage of a natural wood ear bud chamber (see pic) which covers the sound range between 20Hz to 20KHz beautifully. As far as sound quality goes, I'd say they are some of the best and will give my all time favor V Moda headsets a decent run for the money. I tried out a number of songs ranging from soft rock to hip pop and the sound just comes through very naturally hitting both ends of the frequency spectrum. The ear buds felt light and sits comfortably in my ears with three different sizes I can change to. I wonder if this is a result of using wood as its ear bud chamber. Test phone calls are loud and clear for both ends so this headphones is definitely a quality piece.

Construction: The Timbre is not flashy, aside from the wooden chambers and some use of aluminum that reinforces important joints, the rest of the headphone is conservative and black is the common denominator. The 3.5mm jack is thin enough to work with iPhones of all generations and some BlackBerry models. Where I can think improvements can be made is upgrading its rubber cords to some type of fabric based like some of the premium headphones out there. Also I wished the microphone would include some basic control/remote function to receive/end calls or play/pause iPod operations.

All together, I think ifrogz Timbre is a very good headset. Its definitely going to meet the demands of those iPhone or iPod Touch owners looking for quality headphones w/ mic without a hefty price tag.

ifrogz Premium Headphones w/ Mic, Affordable too!

I've said it before that there ought to be more manufacturers to produce stereo headphones with built-in mic. With iPhone sales taking off and lots of other smartphones starting to support this trend there this demand is becoming more serious. Now that iPod Touch has a few VOIP solutions, I'd say this is a must.

Up until today, I can only think of a few choices: 1). Apple OEM headphones [no thanks], 2). Apple Premium headphones [mixed reviews], 3). V-Moda series [we like it] and 4). Griffin TuneBuds Mobile [excellent value]. That is until I received a communication from ifrogz about 3 of their headphones ranging from $19 to $49 and they all have built-in mic. What a concept!
