Review: Griffin Reflect iPhone 3G Case

Griffin Technology unleashed a series of iPhone and iPod Touch cases recently and amongst them, is the new Reflect (MSRP $24.99), a mirror finish case around the front bezel for the iPhone 3G (also available for iPod, iPod Nano, iPod Touch). When I first saw this case, I was hesitating about using it; fearing the whole mirror-finish-LG-shine-like exterior is catered for the female demographic. When I first showed my wife this case, her eyes lit up and with a big smile, she said "that is so cool!". Upon closer inspection, I realized this case actually pulled off a nice refined finish that is suitable for everyone. The mirrored-finish actually has a smokey-tint to it, reminding me of a gun-metal grey.

Case Design: The case design reminds me of the Griffin ClearBoost for the first generation iPhone where its basically two-halves, snapping together. Unlike the ClearBoost (which had a relatively weak mechanism holding it together), Griffin improved it so it snaps shut tightly (very nice improvement). You can still open the case with a coin by gently twisting the lower right hand corner slit. Like all other Griffin cases, package includes a soft cleaning cloth and a peel and stick LCD protector. Much like the Griffin ClearBoost, I prefer this LCD protector which sticks to the LCD itself (unlike the overlay version found on the Nu Form, my review here)

Overall, I like the fit and finish of my iPhone 3G enclosed in the Reflect case. Especially the back cover which is made of a grippy-rubbery finish. The fit, especially around all the cut outs (for camera, volume, headphone/power, and connector) are precise with Griffin quality. It provides ample protection to your beloved iPhone 3G and gives the phone an extra bling (as if the iPhone 3G needed anymore attention right?). However, given my personality and just a general preference over the Nu Form's easy dock design, I ended up switching back to the Nu Form despite how much I liked the Reflect.
