HD screen for LG

LG today unveiled more details of its new LG Chocolate handset, which includes an HD screen.

The handset, the fourth device in its Black Label series, is a direct relation of the original Chocolate, which sold more than 21 million units worldwide.

Specifications for the new handset include a five megapixel camera, 4.0-inch wide HD LCD screen with an 800x345 pixel resolution, a dual screen and the ability to view web pages either vertically or horizontally.

It will be available from Q3 in 53 countries including the UK. Details on carriers and price are yet to be confirmed.

LG chief executive of electronics mobile communications said Dr Skott Ahn said: “The initial response to the new LG Chocolate phone is exceeding our expectations by a wide margin.

“Although much of the interest seems focused on the striking shape of the handset, the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4.0-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use.”

LG Mobile head of marketing UK and Ireland Jeremy Newing added: “The success of the first LG Chocolate paved the way for style and design in the mobile industry and the Black Label Series has continued to bring design led handsets to the consumer.

“With the new LG Chocolate, LG has combined the latest in touchscreen technology with a new chic and slick design to meet consumer demand for HD content.”
