There is a good news for Symbian users. Skype 1.5 for Symbian has been released with new features. The new version is enhanced to support Symbian^3 mobiles such as Nokia N8, C6, E5 and C7. Along with support to Symbian^3 mobiles, there is an improved interface also provided with this release. Also the new version includes Skype's SILK audio codec.
Along with mentioned features, there are other feature improvements as well such as support for multi-part SMS messages (longer than 160 characters are supported). There is an improved user interface for profile area, contact list, authorization, SMS and call view. Possibility to change the IM text size is also added.
In addition to feature enhancements, there are bug fixes for known bugs are also included in this release. The known issues handeled in this version were releated to user interface, calling and connection on different mobiles. The new version also works with Symbian S60 5th touch screen mobiles such as Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, N97, N97 Mini, X6, 5230, 5233, 5235, 5530 XpressMusic, Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, Sony Ericsson Satio, Vivaz and Vivaz PRO.
The Skype v1.5.0.12 for Symbian^3 is available to download from here. Skype for Symbian S60 non-touchscreen devices such as Nokia E63, E71, E72 can be downloaded from here. Symbian S60 5th touch screen mobile users can download their version of Skype from the following download link.
