Everything Everywhere is believed to be signing with Sony Ericsson to range its upcoming ‘Playstation’ phone, the Xperia Play, well placed industry sources told Mobile.
The device, which it is thought will be launched at Mobile World Congress next month, is likely to be ranged on the operator’s ‘premium’ brand, Orange.
The Xperia Play is expected to run on Android 2.3, with Sony Ericsson’s proprietary Android skin.
A Playstation app will allow users to access the gaming function of the phone, with games controlled either using the built in gyroscope or the traditional Playstation buttons.
The phone also sports a 1GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM.
Sony Ericsson has yet to name a launch date for the phone.
Both Sony Ericsson and Everything Everywhere said they ‘would not comment on rumours and speculation’.
