So why haven't I been able to throw down on an iPhone you ask? I feel like it is unfinished, to me, they still have a number of technical improvements to go. And here are some of the reasons why I am not an iPhone owner, yet:
*Lack of 3G; yet, hopefully soon. Apple is now targeting the biggest mobile market, Japan, where the 3G is a 'must-have' (if not, 4G). They need to get this one out quickly!
*Lack of Flash! Apple did not partner with Adobe during launch and again, I remain hopeful that soon, Flash will be supported.
*Lack of Enterprise connectivity. Apple is currently working on improving iPhone's connectivity with Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes. Obviously, Apple realizes the market for professional users and would love to tap into the market currently dominated by BlackBerry. Apple is expected to announce some “significant business-oriented software support for the iPhone on March 6th” at its iPhone press release event.
*Lack of, or delayed launch of SDK. Wall Street Journal reports the CEO of Jirbo Inc. looking forward to the upcoming Software-Development Kit will allow his company "to make better games that run faster and can use advanced capabilities in the phone such as three-dimensional graphics".
* Improvement is needed on the touchscreen Haptic, to give some sort of sensory feedback and provide a better mobile experience while typing.
I am betting a new iPhone with improvements which addresses my issues would come out in the summer time, until then, I am not convinced this is the phone for me, yet. (Greg)
