Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced the successful deployment of its 42Mb/s Dual Carrier HSPA+ solution for PCCW, Hong Kong's premier telecommunications provider. PCCW launched its 42Mb/s service on 11 August 2010 across its territory-wide network, which makes PCCW Asia' s first mobile operator to successfully commercialize the state-of-the-art 42Mb/s Dual Carrier HSPA+ technology on an entire network. Dual Carrier technology is based on the principle of simultaneously employing two carrier channels, which allows an effective maximum theoretical throughput of 42Mb/s. The 42 Mb/s Dual Carrier HSPA+ solutions is an upgrade that doubles the downlink peak data rate of PCCW' s current Huawei HSPA+ mobile broadband network.
Huawei provided PCCW with an end-to-end 42Mb/s DC-HSPA+ network, including a radio access network, a core network, and devices. Huawei' s industry-leading SingleRAN@Broad solution enabled PCCW to build a multi-layer mobile broadband network across Hong Kong, increase network capacity, enhance user experience, and lower total cost of ownership. In addition, Huawei' s SingleEPC packet core network solution allows PCCW to optimize its mobile broadband network operation, while Huawei' s E372, a cutting-edge commercial HSPA+ dongle, provides an unmatched mobile broadband experience, with a downlink data rate of up to 42Mb/s and an uplink data rate of up to 5.76Mb/s.
Wan Biao, President of Wireless Network, Huawei, said, "With the launch of this enhanced HSPA+ network with dual carrier technology, leading operators like PCCW will be able to handle even larger volumes of data traffic. By incorporating Huawei' s end-to-end HSPA+ solution, PCCW' s enhanced HSPA+ network is set to give its mobile broadband customers a greatly enhanced user experience."
As a leader in proving mobile broadband solutions, Huawei is the world's first vendor to provide end-to-end commercial dual carrier HSPA+ solutions for mobile broadband operators worldwide, including for systems and devices. Huawei assists 52 operators in HSPA+ network deployment, of which 33 are HSPA+ commercial networks and 19 are HSPA+ networks in deployment or trial.
