While much of the Android 2.2 focus has been on Verizon's DROIDs lately, the LG Ally is about to get some of the spotlight, too. LG has reached out to us and stated that the Ally will receive Froyo, "with the timeline to be confirmed at a later date." Considering the fact that the Ally is one of the few Android devices to sport a full QWERTY keyboard, I'm sure there are several owners out there that will be excited to get their heaping helping of Froyo.
It's definitely great to hear this news straight from the horse's mouth, especially considering how many rumors are flying nowadays about when Froyo will hit the various Android phones on the market. LG couldn't provide a concrete date for the upgrade just yet, but considering all of the other devices that will be updated to Android 2.2 in the near future, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Ally get called up sooner rather than later.
