Virgin Media confirms Android 2.2 for HTC Wildfire and HTC Desire

Both handsets getting latest update soon.

Virgin Media is the latest mobile operator to confirm when it will start rolling out Android 2.2 (Froyo) to some of its devices.

In a tweet on its official Virgin Media Twitter account it stated:

"MOBILE:: HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire - great news, we're expecting to release OTA updates to 2.2 (Froyo) early Sep :) .AA"

The news means that HTC Desire and HTC Wildfire users will be able to get the latest version of Android in the next couple of weeks, if all goes to plan.

It's also the first time an operator in the UK has confirmed HTC's exclusive comments to Pocket-lint back in July, that the update for the Wildfire would be coming before October.

Android 2.2 adds a number of new features to the phone including the ability to turn your handset into a Wi-Fi hotspot to share your internet data connection with other devices, like your laptop when you are out and about.
