Ericsson Application Awards – Code for cash!

Interested in winning €15,000? Develop an Android™ app using at least one API from Ericsson Labs and you will have the chance.

During October, Ericsson is launching its Ericsson Application Awards, where the winner will take a full €15,000. This is a global competition, which is open for both students and small/medium sized companies, with up to 100 employees. Students and companies compete in two different categories. So why not take the chance to use your superior coding skills to win some hard cash?

What do I have to do?

The objective of the competition is to develop an application based on the Android™ platform (web or native) that makes use of at least one of the API’s from Ericsson Labs. The application should also address the theme of the competition, which is "Connected Things". Besides this, a working application prototype should be created, it should be an innovative solution and it should also have business potential.

Prices and deadlines

Besides the first price of €15,000 and phones from Sony Ericsson, the rest of the prices are also quite substantial. The runner up will get €10,000 and phones from Sony Ericsson, and €5,000 will be given to the project finishing in the third place. The prize money will be shared equally among the registered team members.

The latest date for team registration is February 28, 2011, but for those teams registering already now there will be stage competitions with nice prices going on each month under 2010. The last date for submissions of applications is March 31st. The 1st and 2nd place winners from both the student and company categories will be awarded at the Ericsson Application Awards ceremony in June 2011.
