Darmstadt, Germany. – The Motorola Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced the launch of the MC3190-Z, the smallest and lightest business-class Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) handheld available on the market.
The MC3190-Z combines exceptional read performance with simple usability in an ergonomic package appropriate for retail and carpeted-space environments. Users will benefit from its rugged, yet lightweight design which reduces operator fatigue over long periods of use.
The MC3190-Z is based on the widely deployed and retail Industry award-winning Motorola MC3190 mobile computer. The MC3190-Z will be available to European customers in Q1 of 2011, with availability expanding to other regions across the globe beginning in Q2 2011.

The MC3190-Z’s ergonomic design is aimed at the typical non-industrial user, and is well-balanced for extended use and handling.
Light weight – 1.4 lbs. (650g) compared to typical industry standard RFID handheld terminals which weigh 2.5lb. to 3.5 lbs. (1200-1500g).
Features a new Motorola RFID reader engine that provides excellent performance with high throughput and long read ranges.
Ships with the Motorola RFID locating engine that will guide an associate to a specific item to be located by audible and visual cues. (for example, a size 9, red, medium pair of shoes that is somewhere in the backroom).
Features a unique orientation-insensitive antenna that reduces the number of manual sweeps and usage complexity associated with typical RFID handhelds.
The MC3190-Z allows businesses to count inventory more quickly and accurately, reducing cycle-counting times by 75% to 90%, thereby allowing cycle-counting to be conducted more often.
In retail, a lightweight business-class RFID handheld has been shown to increase inventory accuracy to 98-99.9%, and reduce out of stocks by 60% to 80%.
The MC3190-Z reduces total cost of ownership by combining two data-capture technologies (RFID and barcode reader) into one package.
