Wistron NeWeb suspended the production of PHS dual-mode handsets in June, and will shift its focus to smartphones starting in the second half, according to the company.
The Taiwan-based company is currently in talks with several Chinese handset vendors and new orders are expected for the fourth quarter. Its mobile communications product line will represent 11-13% of 2010 full-year revenues compared with 8% in 2009
Wistron NeWeb also reported net profits of NT$632 million (US$19.74 million) or NT$2.55 per share in the first half of 2010 on 15.3% gross margin. Revenues for the period totaled NT$9.37 billion.
Its direct broadcast satellite, digital home and antenna lines are projected to contribute 17-19%, 53-57% and 13-16%, respectively to the company's 2010 revenues.
