If you have small children, then you should be able to relate that road trips now takes more time to prepare and endure.  For a long time, I've opted for a tablet-styled portable DVD player system such as this Philips dual screen system.  As you know, taking a portable DVD player would require you to carry DVDs with you, again adding more inconvenience to the process.  This is where your iPad with CinemaSeat + PowerJolt car charger comes in.

The CinemaSeat is a horizontal faux-leather case that comes with velcro-adjustable strap for the back of your car's headrest.  The case is elegant and has a finish that will blend quite nicely with the interior of any car (so long as your car's interior is lighter color).  The velcro is designed to wrap in between the headrest and the car seat so it will not bother the driver or passenger headrests.  There are no adjustments that can be made so if the position of the iPad is not at an ideal viewing angle, there isn't too much you can do.  In my recent road trip, using the iPad to playback a movie for my child proved to be a very good thing.  The iPad's screen lights up beautifully while the speakers provided ample sounds for the car ride.  My only gripe (and its to no fault of Griffin's) is that I wished there was a way to remotely control the iPad so to restart a movie wouldn't require us to pull the iPad out of the CinemaSeat.  I also wished the CinemaSeat would come with a black finish to blend into my car's interior.  Note: CinemaSeat has a pretty tight fitment so you can't use a case with your iPad, the way I do it is to use the Griffin Elan Passport to transport the iPad so that it can be easily taken out for the car ride while providing ample protection for the rest of the trip.

The PowerJolt for iPad is the other essential road trip accessory for your iPad.  Unlike your typical charger which runs at 5V DC output at 0.5 or 1.0A, this bad boy pumps out the juice at 2.1A.  In basic terms, this charger will charge your iPad at a much faster rate than the lower amperage chargers.  The package also comes with a USB cable since that is the plug type at the back end of the charger.  In theory, this charger would work and charge all USB devices as Griffin pretty much suggests it to work with most of the iPhones and iPods up to date. The PowerJolt makes a great companion for your upcoming road trip for obvious reasons.  Note: Personally, I don't like to mix the chargers amongst my device when they have different amperage rating even if the output are all at 5V DC, I am not sure if the extra amperage/increased charge rate will do any negative impact to the battery of those devices.

Permanent root for the Samsung Epic 4g

Thank You: LeshaK for his method of hiding su in a tmpfs (worked on the moment and works on the epic). Noobnl for his modification on mounting rootfs rw. Anonymous (2 testers who wish to remain anonymous) for all their extensive testing, they have the Epic. SDX for the great support and environment to make this possible.

Disclaimer: I don't have an Epic, but after extensive testing with users who do, this process should be flawless. We are ready to tweak if any OTAs are released or production phones turn out to be slightly different than the pre-released phones we've tested with.

Background: I will be able to allow you to keep root using the same method I used on the moment, with a few tweaks for the epic.
In the mean time, after the exploit is ran and root access is gained thru the adb binary, we will need to push a few files and scripts to guarantee our root environment is properly setup, until we are able to develop custom kernels and a custom recovery with root incorporated.

Description: This is a temporary patch to guarantee permanent root. Once custom kernels are released with root incorporated, this patch won't be required anymore.
For now, this patch will execute on every boot ensuring the root environment is correctly setup

We brought you the first pictures of the AT&T version of the Motorola Flipout, and now it's time to drop off a truckload of info on the device. Let's do so in handy bullet form, shall we?

* The phone runs the updated version of Motoblur 1.5 -- but it's not what you find on the Droid X and Droid 2.
* The operating system is Android 2.1 (update1, we presume).
* Widgets are resizeable, like on the Droid X and Droid 2.
* There are filtering options for your social networks, so you're not completely deluged with information.
* The 2.8-inch screen (at the old-school 320x240 resolution) is described as "garbage" with a low, low 120 pixels per inch. (Hey, it's not mean to be high-end.)
* That said, the body of the phone and build quality are said to be top-notch, which is no surprise for Motorola. We may not like the design, but, dammit, they can certainly build things well.
* Benchmarks: 26FPS on nenamark, 444 on quadrant, 5.8MFlops on linpack, but it's topping out on gears and 2dfps at 30FPS.
* The phone is pretty speedy, with its OMAP processor running at 720MHz and PowerVR SGX 530 GPU.
* This is AT&T we're talking about, so there is no app sideloading, but like the Backflip and Aria and Captivate, you can use ADB or the Android Sideload Wonder Machine to install the .apk files.
* Google Navigation is in, and Google is the default search,
unlike on the Backflip. Yahoo is the homepage, but that is changed easily
enough.

So there you go, folks. We're looking at a small, speedy, pocketable Android phone.

LG ELEVATING CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY THROUGH JEONG-DO MANAGEMENT

LG Electronics (LG) announced that it has joined the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), aligning with a coalition of global electronics companies, software makers and service providers to promote an industry code of conduct to improve working and environmental conditions and to adopt corpo-rate social responsibility (CSR) best practices.

Aligned with global industry leaders such as IBM and HP, the latest initiative by LG follows on the heels of the company’s participation in the United Nations Global Com-pact (UNGC), a UN-led strategic policy initiative which LG joined in December that commits signatories to initiate programs that promote social responsibility. LG’s latest move is further indication of the company’s determination to give CSR a greater role in its worldwide operations.

“EICC involvement is another example of LG putting into practice its philosophy of Jeong-do Management, our unique code-of-conduct system for conducting business in a transparent and honest manner,” said Young-kee Kim, Executive Vice President and Chief Relations Officer of LG Electronics. “The success of a company rings hollow if workers and suppliers aren’t treated with respect and dignity, and management doesn’t set a good example for tomorrow’s leaders.”

In order to bring its global practices in line with the EICC Code of Conduct – which fo-cuses significantly on issues related to labor, health and safety, environment, manage-ment systems and ethics – LG has already implemented a range of measures to improve its CSR management systems at home and abroad.

Toward the end of the year, LG will introduce a Supplier Code of Conduct consistent with EICC standards for its suppliers to follow if they wish to continue their business relationship with LG.
