The Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) – an international strategic partnership of ICT companies and industry associations – has agreed a methodology for assessing the carbon emission-reduction potential of ICT solutions. Ericsson is a member of GeSI.
The latest Ericsson Tech Talk film features Christer Törnevik, director of EMF Safety and Sustainability at Ericsson Research. He talks about the findings of the GeSI report, Evaluating Carbon-reducing impact of ICT, and an Ericsson White Paper, Measuring Emissions Right (Assessing the climate-positive effects of ICT).
"The method will be a useful tool while waiting for international standards to be completed," he says.
Törnevik also outlines some of the earlier work conducted by Ericsson Research in identifying the emission-reduction potential of ICT solutions in areas such as m-health, e-commerce and virtual meetings.
